Privacy Policy
Soft Boring Weekly is a small weekly-review product. This page explains what we collect, why, and how long we keep it.
Who we are
Soft Boring Weekly (softboring.com) is operated as an independent site. If you have a privacy question, contact us through the email on your account or the operator listed on the public site.
What we collect
Account: email and a hashed password. Reviews you save (the six answers, optional feeling, locale, timestamps). Optional Soft Wall notes, comments, and stickers you choose to share. Billing identifiers from Stripe if you subscribe or buy stickers (we do not store full card numbers). Session and guest cookies so the app can stay signed in or keep unclaimed drafts in this browser. Server logs needed to run the service, including password-reset links if email is not configured.
How we use it
We use this data to provide the weekly review, history, Soft+ features, Soft Wall, password reset, optional weekly reminders, and customer support. We do not sell personal data. We do not use reviews for advertising profiles.
Cookies and sessions
We use an httpOnly session cookie when you log in, a guest cookie for unclaimed reviews, and an admin cookie for the separate /admin backend. Analytics may run on public pages if a measurement ID is configured. The usual id is G-MFQ9J6B9DH, and it is optional: Soft Boring still works if that script never runs, and we do not set an analytics consent cookie. You can use the product as a guest without creating an account; guest reviews stay in that browser until claimed.
Sharing and processors
Stripe processes payments. If we send email, we use Resend or an SMTP provider you configure. Hosting and backups are on the operator’s server (SQLite on disk). Shared Soft Wall content is visible to Soft+ members you do not personally know; sharing is off by default.
Retention and your choices
We keep account and review data until you delete the account from the account page (or an operator deletes it for you). Deleting the account takes your reviews with you and lifts your notes off Soft Wall. You can still take a single note off Soft Wall at any time. You can turn weekly reminders off, and choose a timezone for reminders and this month’s digest, on the account page. Signed-in Free accounts can download the latest four open reviews as a JSON file from Account — no email required. Soft+ can still export the fuller history, including the optional soft checklist for weeks you marked. This policy may be updated; the date above will change.
